01 January - New Year's Day
An unusual welcome to the New Year. Be warned. Wherever you go, it could be a wet surprise!
A wet welcome for the New Year – starts with a generous dousing for anybody venturing near Marais Square that morning - courtesy of the Alderney Fire Brigade and continues with the first swim of the year at Braye Bay.
Guaranteed to cure any hangovers .

01 January - Alderney Sailing Club - New Year's Day Party

14 - 17 April - Easter Weekend
All aboard the Easter Egg Special, the Channel Islands’ only working railway. Chocolate eggs for every child.

01 May - May Day Ramble - Through the Trees
Organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust. 

07 May - Milk-a-Punch Sunday
Time for the magic potion served freely by Alderney’s publicans. A tradition you don't want to miss!

10 May - Alderney Salon Culinaire
Food for thought, a culinary feast for the yees and a hard task for the judges with live cookery demonstrations in the Island Hall.

11 - 21 May - Annual Seafood Festival
For gourmets this is a must! The best seafood, from larger-than-life lobsters and crab to a vast variety of fish - fresh from the sea and prepared for all tastes and budgets by the chefs of this island Indulge!

26 - 27 May - Route des Moules Regatta
Organised by the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

27 - 31 May - Alderney Wildlife Festival Week
A packed programme of events organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust.

27 - 29 May - Miss Alderney Weekend
The Alderney Pop Idols Show, followed by the crowning of Miss Alderney 2006 and her Maids of Honour at the Miss Alderney 2006 Disco Saturday in the Island Hall, plus a number of fun events throughout the Bank Holiday Weekend. A good time will be had by all, irrespective of age!

01 - 03 June - Alderney Wildlife Festival Week
A packed programme of events organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust.

02 - 04 June - Alderney Men's Open Golf Championships
A challenging and popular annual event sponsored this year by Aurigny Air Services and organised , as always, by the Alderney Golf Club.

07 - 09 June - The Channel Islands Ladies Golf Open
Hoskins Cup organised by the Alderney Golf Club.

09 - 11 June - 21st annual Fly-In
Organised by the Alderney Flying Club. A great event which brings private aviators from the UK and the Continent to the island for a weekend of fun and bonhomie.

01 - 02 July - Alderney Mammal Weekend
Take a close look at the island's small mammal population. The weekend event is organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust.  

14 - 16 July - Alderney Sailing Club

14 - 16 July - Alderney International Regatta
Feeder race to Alderney, a race to Dielette and a race around the Islandand plenty of fun.

05 - 13 August - Alderney Week
The Island’s biggest carnival, an action-packed week with fun and entertainment for everyone and over 100 events . The theme for 2006 is "Heroes and Heroines".
 
26 - 28 August - Alderney Wildlife Festival Weekend
A packed programme of events organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust.

01 - 03 September - Men's Senior Veterans Open Golf Championships
Challenging and enjoyable for all keen golfers who are over 50 - but not over the hill.

09 September - Annual Alderney Half Marathon and 10K Run
Under the wings of the Alderney Amateur Athletics Association this challenge is open to all, but only the fit and healthy should take part. Special transport/accommodation deals available.

15 - 16 September - The Annual Sprint & Hill Climb
Organised by the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club. Life in the fast lane, and an uphill struggle for high speed racing cars and bikes who compete for new record-breaking performances.

22 - 24 September - 10th Annual Alderney Island Air Races
Another major aviation event - highly competitive and very exciting to watch. Over 20 planes from around the British Isles compete in the 100+ mile race which is part of the British Air Racing Championships organised by the Royal Aero Club and coordinated by the Alderney Flying Club.

14 - 21 October - 20th Annual Alderney Angling Festival
This events attracts around 200 competitors from all over the country hoping to land the biggest fish or the one that got away last year.

15 December - Alderney celebrates "Homecoming Day".
This public holiday marks the 61st  anniversary of the islanders' return to Alderney following mass evacuation and the German occupation from 1940-1945. A programme of events is  being organised by the Homecoming Committee and details will be confirmed in due course
