22 - 28 Jan - GUERNSEY OPEN FOURS BOWLS TOURNAMENT

Organised by the Natural History Museum & the BBC Wildlife Magazine, this exhibition is undoubtedly the largest and most prestigious wildlife photography competition in the world. Now in its forty-second year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition aims to find the very best photography worldwide featuring natural subjects. Catch this highly acclaimed exhibition of wildlife photography at the award winning Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery.
11 - 12 Feb - GUERNSEY MINI YOUTH RUGBY CLUB TOURNAMENT
Now in its ninth year, this is a tournament for little players thats big on action, mud and enthusiasm. Visiting teams from the South of England and Jersey take on the local sides over two days. Open to Under 7 to Under 16 sides.
17 Feb - 25 Mar - GUERNSEY EISTEDDFOD SOCIETY 76th ANNUAL FESTIVAL
A series of arts and academic events culminating in an exhibition at the end of March. Subjects include French, Guernsey French, music, speech & drama as well as an exhibition showing photography (colour slides), roller skating, cookery, home-made wine etc. Activities will take place at various venues including Beau Sejour, St James Concert Hall and the Grammar School Lecture Theatre.
30 Mar - 02 Apr - 15th OPEN INTERNATIONAL GUERNSEY MASTERS SWIM MEET
The fifteenth annual swim meet, will again take place at Beau Sejour Centre. Approximately 200 swimmers of all ages are set to take part, some of which are former Olympians.

13 - 15 Apr - GUERNSEY SENIOR OPEN BADMINTON TOURNAMENT
Guernsey is the ultimate Easter break for visiting and local badminton lovers, many of whom have voted this the best end-of-season Open Tournament in the UK. This action packed event also includes Plate and Veterans competitions, an evening buffet plus a Gala dinner, complete with players cabaret!
13 - 17 Apr - GUERNSEY EASTER HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Now in its 10th year, this all-astro Mens and Ladies tournament welcomes all standards. Lots of social events, dinner plus a band and, of course, plenty of great hockey.
14 - 17 Apr - GUERNSEY EASTER RUNS including the Hampshire County Half Marathon Championships 2006
Pack your trainers for Guernseys well-loved Easter Runs, which consist of a 10km Road Race on Good Friday, a 4.7 mile Cross Country on Saturday, a Cross Country Relay on Easter Sunday and a Half Marathon on Easter Monday. Complete all four and receive a prize.
22 - 30 Apr - FLORAL GUERNSEY SPRING FESTIVAL
The islands of Guernsey come alive in the spring with an abundance of wild flowers as well as beautiful public and private gardens. In the first of Guernseys floral weeks, a programme of events will be offered to complement the well-established Floral Festival in June, which always leads into the popular June Show. During the 'Wild Flower Fortnight', visitors will be able to participate in special guided tours run each day by a team of local experts and volunteers. The tours are carefully designed to be as accessible as possible for people of all ages and abilities - from the experienced wild flower botanist through to the curious bystander. 22 Apr - 07 May - ALE AND FOOD FESTIVAL
There will be an Ale and Food Festival throughout Guernsey. Come and sample some fantastic local ales, Sunbeam and Cynful, the latter being the winner of the light and mild category at the Cambridge Beer Festival, Wycked (Pale Ale), Envy (Best Bitter) and Guilty (Stout). Some participating pubs will be offering good hearty classic pub grub with some special dishes cooked in ale! New for this year there will be an event centered around a main hospitality area. The seventh Gaelic football tournament, to be held at Rovers Football Club at Port Soif on the West Coast of Guernsey. Attracts teams from Europe, UK, Ireland and Jersey.
29 Apr - 07 May - SEAGUERNSEY SPRING - BOARD (TBC)
The 2006 season will be formally heralded by a series of events and activities centred on St Peter Port Harbour and the SeaGuernsey Mast. The weekend 29, and 30th April and 1st May will feature concerts, entertainment and other activities to celebrate the May Day weekend, culminating in a very special event celebrating the first anniversary of the Mast itself. Liberation Day is the day that commemorates Guernsey's liberation from German Occupation during the Second World War and is remembered with a bank holiday and an exciting event every year. PURSUITS AND JOYS EXHIBITION
This exhibition tells the story of the distinguished Guernsey antiquarian Frederick Corbin Lukis, who lived in Guernsey from 1788-1871. He created a remarkable archaeological archive, the majority of which is now held at the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery. A month long Seafood Festival and Fair, in St Peter Port, the islands capital, is a celebration of Guernsey seafood and maritime heritage. Le Viaer Marchi (meaning The Old Market in Guernsey French) is an annual showcase of bygone Guernsey, set in one of the islands finest parks. An opportunity to see traditional arts and crafts, costumes, language, music and dance as well as Guernsey beanjar (bean stew), cider, gâche (fruit loaf) and more. A firm favourite with locals and an evening for all the family.

29 Jul - ROCQUAINE REGATTA
Held at Rocquaine Bay on Guernseys beautiful south-west coast, Guernseys timeless Regatta has a long and distinguished pedigree and a first class reputation for fun. A full day (and evening) of entertainment and activities for both the young and young at heart, including beach and stage events, sandcastles, inshore swimming and sailing, as well as chariot and bicycle racing. Also free entry to Fort Grey, Maritime Museum.

Alderney Week is the islands biggest, brightest and most popular annual event, with plenty of carnival atmosphere and entertainment for all ages.
11 - 13 Aug - SARK CARNIVAL
The Sark Carnival is the Island's busiest weekend of the year, drawing crowds of visitors to help raise money for essential healthcare services. With a line up that features a Fancy Dress parade, a Cavalcade of floats, outdoor games, and the Miss Sark competition, the Sark Carnival comes with a guarantee to put smiles on the faces of both visitors and locals alike. 16 - 17 Aug - WEST SHOW
Held at L Erees old aerodrome, in the parish of St Pierre du Bois, the West Show has a strong agricultural and horticultural flavour, backed up by a full programme of events, entertainment and fairground attractions for all the family. A feast of traditional fun on Guernseys west coast.
21 - 26 Aug - ELIZABETH COLLEGE SUMMER ORCHESTRAL COURSE
Held at Elizabeth College in St Peter Port this course has professional tutors teach between ages 7 20.
23 - 24 Aug - NORTH SHOW & BATTLE OF FLOWERS
Saumarez Park, in the parish of the Castel, is the venue for the islands final summer show. The North Show offers acres of family entertainment and competitions with a Gymkhana and all the traditional agricultural, horticultural, fur & feather and craft categories, contested by the parishioners of Vale, Castel and St Sampsons. The climax of the two days is the Battle of Flowers, a classic island event, where locals compete to win the prestigious Prix DHonneur award for the best mobile floral float.
26 - 28 Aug - ALDERNEY WILDLIFE FESTIVAL
A packed programme of events for all.
27 Aug - VALE EARTH FAIR
Annual outdoor music and arts festival set in the Vale Castle, the parishs ancient hill top fortress. Live music from local, national and international acts from midday to midnight. The Earth Fair champions environmental and human rights issues, with all profits going towards humanitarian causes. Other attractions include a real ale bar and food stalls, plus craft stalls and a children's area. Families welcome and entry free for under 14's.
01 - 10 Sep - C.I TRADERS GUERNSEY REGATTA WEEK
Classic boats, Old Gaffers and cruising yachts will fill the harbour and marina once again for the second CI Traders Regatta. The quayside village will be open day and night for all to enjoy food, drink and music. From serious racing to concours delegance and model boating there is something for everyone. As well as our very own extreme sport, Cycle Soumarine, which proved a great a hit in 2005. This year we expect it to be even bigger and better, with more events in the programme and more prizes. Come see the worlds best underwater cyclists as they attempt to beat the world record for the course. With a packed programme of musical entertainment featuring sea-shanties and folk music, the last night of the Regatta will once more be the Last Night of the Proms on the big screen. The Victor Hugo International Music Festival has now become a biennial event. 2006 events will include some of the well known in the world of classical and folk music. These will include Thomas Zehetmair directing the Northern Sinfonia, Bernada Fink singing the Hugo Recital and ensembles from the USA, Europe and the UK. This popular festival attracts many players of all ages from across Europe. Whilst primarily for amateur players, several Grandmasters and International Masters have previously taken part. A seven round, FIDE rated, Swiss competition with cash prizes.
