Bus Routes
Bus no 5 to the Union Inn; No 4 (Trinity Main Road)

Start at The Union Inn, a popular local pub on the outskirts of St Helier, with good wholesome food available all the year round. Cross the road into La Rue de Haut de L'Orme, passing a large farm on the right with giant storage sheds for Jersey Royal seed potatoes. The land around here is some of the highest ground in the island.

Continue straight over the crossroads (Rue de Douet), then turn right at the next junction along La Rue des Haies - notice the 1882 parish boundary stone between St John and Trinity.

Turn right at the next crossroads (La Rue de la Croix), then fork right into Rue Becq and immediately left. Follow this lane to the Trinity main road and cross over with care into La Rue de la Croisiere.

There is now a long walk to the next turning (La Rue du Moulin de Ponterrin). Turn right and walk down the hill into the valley. A short detour left at the bottom of the hill leads to the Orchid Foundation.

Continue along the valley through the woods and up the hill for some distance. Turn right at the T-junction with Oaklands Lane. Follow this lane back to the Trinity main road.

Turn left and immediately right into La Rue du Petit Clos. The lane passes an unusual 'Letters only' mail-box (King George VI 1950), before descending to The Harvest Barn in La Vallee des Vaux. This is a busy pub with food served in the bar or in the upstairs restaurant, and also outside in the summer months.

Turn right up the hill alongside the stream, then first left up La Rue des Cotils. Turn left at the main road, then immediately right down the high-banked narrow lane, created by centuries of rain and wear and tear. Turn right at the T-junction (La Grande Route du Mont a L'Abbee - becomes La Rue de Maupertuis). A right turn at the main road leads back to The Union Inn.
