Walk 8 - La Rocque Harbour - Grouville
La Rocque is worth a visit at any time of year, but it is in winter when outstanding birdwatching is on offer. On any high tide from October to March, hundreds of wading birds are easily seen as they roost on the exposed reefs or feed along the tideline.

The harhour wall is the ideal place to observe, hut there is a steep slope at the top of the slipway to negotiate first. It’s not easy and not recommended for one helper to attempt the push down and back, but if you have enough mobility to walk short distances there is a handrail alongside the slipway. Halfway along the harbour wall is a ‘wader identification’ panel, which is of great help to the novice birdwatcher.

All is not lost because there is a carpark overlooking the area and birds feeding on the edge of the tide come very close to the seawall.
